Your seat looks ok. Quite high, but fairly central.

Thanks Cloverjo. It`s irrelevant now as the last seats have just gone since I posted this question. He who hesitates is lost..

We prefer the Dress Circle when we go to the theatre.
We think we get a better view than from the stalls. (As long as the seats are fairly central.)

I have been to Covent Garden many times before and as long as the seat is fairly in the middle, it will be OK.

The sound in the Amphitheatre is the best in the House, and if you get one in the middle somewhere, your visit should be OK. Were you going to the opera or the ballet ?

Mikey - I wanted to see Don Quixote but it`s finishing this week and it`s sold out. There was availability on the Balcony but it sold in the blink of an eye. I will have to phone them tomorrow and see if they have any returns. I saw the Moscow City Ballet perform Giselle last week and I need another ballet fix.

Could you go and queue, quite often that's when someone turns up with returned tickets, we've always been lucky as there are a surprising number of tickets returned and of course there are seats reserved " just in case"

wired - yes you can, apparently http://www.roh.org.uk/visit/tickets#sold-out I`ll phone first though as I don`t particularly fancy hanging around in a queue in this weather.

Haven't been for years, but the Newcastle Theatre Royal had four levels:

Stalls (second dearest)
Dress Circle (dearest)
Upper Circle (second cheapest)
Balcony (cheapest)

Balcony seats were non-bookable as they were just long wooden forms. The entrance to the balcony was from a side street, and you queued up, much like for the cinema in those days. I remember queueing up at 5 o'clock for a seven o'clock performance to make sure I got in.
