Gness, if only that rifle could talk: what stories it would have to tell! It's hard to believe that it's been leaning there for so long. It does blend into the tree, doesn't it?
Stuey...it's fantastic.....and seems to be in exactly the position the owner left it .....
Animals....weather.....nothing has touched it......but I would love to know what happened to the person who left it there....not something you just leave behind in that territory.....x

It's not a Martini stuey, it's a lever action Winchester, standard 'cowboy' equipment.

Additionally it's a Winchester Model 1873 in the 44-40 caliber. This unusual caliber allowed for the owner to load either his pistol or rifle since both were manufactured for that round. The side arm was manufactured by several differnet gun makers, including Co0lt and Remington...
