my own home i live in ( House and contents with lodgers insurance ) 1913 to 1914 it went up £16 pounds . now 1914 to 1915 same policy gone up £229 11 pence .do anyone think this is a mistake, as £229 seems a big rise.when nothing extra has been insured on it .
If you're happy with them otherwise, ring the company and ask why - and tell them you're looking elsewhere (having first obtained at least two lower quotes).
BTW Welcome to 2015!!
Are you in a time warp and a century behind the times?
Insurers constantly review the crime statistics for each area. Flood risk maps are constantly being revised and improved. Maybe your property is now considered to be at higher risk than previously?
Can't you compare last years documents with the ones for this year? Then you can see just what is going on.
It seems to have risen by too much. It might be an error and actually be £29.11(hopefully)
phone the company and query it, also shop around. My insurers did this to me a few years ago (Lloyds bank) I phoned them up and first they said they couldn't do anything, then I told them what other quotes i had and miraculously they could reduce my policy cost! I told them I'd think about it and carried on searching, I more than halved the cost by going to M and S and having buildings and contents together.
