I'm beyond shocked - a recent mammogram detected an " area of interest" and after a visit to the breast clinic yesterday, a further scan and biopsies have revealed Ca breast. Nothing was found in the lymph glands and I'm going back in a few days to discuss the removal of lump and surrounding tissue and further treatment. I'm just past myself, Dr and staff were amazing but I just can't get my head around it or imagine what is ahead of me.

Sorry to hear that April, it must be a very worrying time for you. Keep strong and remember that treatment moves on constantly.
It's probably best to wait until you know more about your particular situation as every case is different but when you know more about what is going on, this site is very helpful http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/
oh. what a shock for you. but easy for me to say but. sounds like early detection and quick treatment. best wishes ,
My Mum survived it, she had a mastectomy, chemo and Herceptin treatment.
If you're having a 'lumpectomy' it looks as if yours has been caught earlier.
I hope all goes as best as it can for you.

Thank you Rocky, it's the waiting and not knowing that is tormenting me. They said they'd discuss the "staging" and "after care" on Monday, but for now I'm letting my mind runaway with me. They gave me a sleeping tablet to take last night which definitely helped but tonight I'm just over-thinking things.

Thank you so much all of you! Yes it would appear it's been caught early - a small blessing if I can call it that!! I need to learn patience for now! Again, thank you for your concerns everyone x
april, please come back and tell us how you get on.
My aunt, in her 40's, had breast cancer that was successfully treated.

I am sorry to hear this April, but they seem to have caught it early. That is good, I hope you have a good outcome.
April could i add.... My family member had a mastectomy approx 17years ago!! And a few nodes too- has never looked back!!. Good luck with your appointment. Xx
I just wanted to add my best wishes. It's very frightening, but it sounds like they've found it in good time, and will be able to treat you successfully.
April, I wish you well and a full 100% recovery. My sister had this type of cancer and that was 3 years ago. She's fine now. She had meds, then an op to remove the lumps(plural), then a few weeks of RT. No chemo. She's 100% now. Let us know how it goes eh? PLEASE keep in touch with us all. xx
In 1988 ? They found a shadow behind my nipple.
Had an op, and it turned out to be nothing! so hope you find yours is just as successful april. Good luck, take care, wish you well.
