Is any one else having trouble printing this ? I wonder if they had such a huge increase in entries last month that they've built in a glitch to stop you printing it off the web!!

I have the grid but the clues are all in little squares. I can do it by reading the clues of the web page but it isn't very easy as they are tiny. shame because it looks rather fun and innovative after the disappoining Telegraph on Monday!

By George I've got it! I think - Elgar is the key...

Got 24d at last - the dots hadn't printed out well.

Elgar is indeed the key, folks! Good luck...

what? - not even a clue Mike B?
1 down - every source I can find says it's Stuart-Powell, yet Stewart-Powell fits the grid... anybody got any thoughts/explanation?
Question Author
How spooky - I was just about to ask a question and the piece in question came on Classic FM!!!

Equally odd is that 3dn should surely be Townsend but it doesn't quite fit either
I have found one source that gives his name as Townshend, so that'll do for me...!
Question Author
thanks homeresque. Geocities spells s-p as Steuart-Powell
Question Author

will someone put me out of my misery on 37 down.

I thought it was Oak Lung but this does not fit with 49 across.

I make it OAK ?U?P

Thanks - I never thought of that spelling.

And the mighty Wikipedia (among others) has got it wrong - but I expect a lot of the sites I hit cribbed it from Wikipedia in the first place...

You finished now, macpark?

It's OAK LUMP according to Chambers.
Question Author
Yes!!! Thanks Homoresque. I must say that it was very enjoyable and all the better for being a bit of a challenge.

Not sure whether you were being ironic up there, macpark, but sorry if I gave it away. Been overworking & undersleeping recently, & just got over-excited...

Are any of you very clever people still around - I know it's probably quite a bit later [11.00am in South Australia] - and I've really only just started it but if 19d is Sir Edward Elgar then who is 26a ? Have tried two daugters and neither seem to fit.
Would appreciate any help, thank you
'S'Ok figured out another one with several spellings - don't believe the first thing you read.

No doubt I'll be back [but on another post] cos I'm sure to need more help !!
Cheers
Question Author
Mike B I wasn't being at all ironic - I was desperate! But all is well now as having got the connection the rest fell into place quite easily. Hope you got it finished and thanks for the hints.
