I am receiving treatment , for macular degeneration in my right eye. I have been having injections for almost a year now and it all seems to be going fine
However, every now and again I get conjunctivitis and after putting drops in it clears up. I have conjunctivitis now - it started at the weekend. I contacted my doctor this morning and had to wait for her to ring me. She has just done so, but instead of giving me drops she has advised me to try bathing the eyes with salt water and if there is no improvement to ring back on Friday
Now I have to admit I am very worried about my eyes and am rather loath to do this
Any thoughts please ?
Well all the doctor said was that they were not giving so many drops these days, but if my eyes did not improve then I shoukd go back. Anyway, I have had a word with the pharmacist and she said it was a very good remedy . So, I shall give it a go. Just one thing puzzles me - over the past year or so I must have seen at least five or six doctors, but none of them ever mentioned this
I suspect that if you have seen different doctors, maybe they weren't aware of your repeated bouts for whatever reason, and this doctor is. If all the others didn't see it as a repeated issue but as a one off, then drops were the right treatment.
