Having tasted Hershey Bars, I am not surprised that our chocolate is so popular. Hershey tastes of sick, as it is made from curdled milk. Apparently Butyric acid is the component which provides the characteristic smell of human vomit. But on the other hand, I love Reeses Peanut Butter Cups !

Whenever I have been to the States, I have always taken plenty of our sweets with me, as they are very popular amongst my American friends. Anybody else tasted Yankie chocolate ?

Hershey bars yes, I was horrified the first and only time I tried it, was revolting. They make fabulous jelly beans though.

Years ago, when I had teeth, I used to love Tootsie Rolls. I first saw them advertised in Superman comics, when I was a boy in the 50's and 60's, so on my first trip to America in 1978 ( Courtesy of Freddie Laker, God bless him !)
I bought some within 10 hours of landing at JFK, and scoffed them during a coast-to-coast drive, all the way to California ! They pulled a couple of fillings out but it was worth it !
Not tried those but do like that stuff - salt water taffy. US seem to make some fun sweets but their chocolate is gross.
Many years ago a friend of mine brought me back a Hershey teddy bear that was infused with the scent of Hershey. As it smelt of vomit, it went straight into the garden for the dog to play with, I thought it must have been a duff one.

Obviously it wasn't, disgusting it was.
yes, we lived over there for two years more than 20 years ago, most of it was vile. They had just launched Godiva chocolates over there and at the local Macy's in store shop the queues used to snake all over the floor the counter was on. The other thing that I found disgusting was the Dubonnet that is made in the US. It was much cheaper than the imported stuff and smelt and tasted very sour.

I hope you didnt kill anyone ! I refer to the Twinkie defence of the killer of Harvey Millk who had pigged out on sugar and successfully pleaded that he had shot said HM whilst hyperglycaemic
years ago, a group of us took a limousine transfer from Spokane airport to a ski resort 3 hours away. the driver pulled into a 7-11 and came out with a giant cup of coffee with at least ten sugar sachets (all of them went in), a huge bag of sugared do-nuts and a multipack of life-savers. she scoffed the lot before we got to kettle falls, about an hour out.

Same as you, love the peanut butter cups, but dislike Hersheys. The plain is ok.
I find I drink more 'hot cocoa' in America than I do here to try to satisfy the chocolate cravings!
A few of my colleagues have brought back Hershey kisses from the US hols. I eat them even though I'm not keen. Although I much prefer British chocs to US chocs, my favourite chocs are Swiss, particularly Lindt Lindor.

I used to eat Reeses peanut butter cups regularly years ago. They're yummy.
