hey jake about speed of light...

some 3 years ago i read in a science journal ..that a group of scientists in america (i guess MIT lab) have accelarated light in compressed chamber using ceasium gas ... and they accelerated light to some 310 times the speed .. im not sure of other details and there is no follow up on that????

First, there are two things at work: the phase velocity, and the group velocity. Phase velocity can go faster than "c", but it doesn't mean that it's breaking special relativity as it isn't actually transmitting information any faster than "c". This site illustrates it quite well:
