Have you ever taken an instant dislike towards someone but dont know why?

Has someone ever taken (to your knowledge) a dislike to you, but you dont know why?

Have you ever taken a dislike to someone but later changed your mind about them? Are first impressions accurate?

Thanks.

But there is a vast difference between making an instant judgement on someone and actually 'disliking them' . Nailit -if I saw you in a supermarket carpark I may make an initial judgement on you but I would have to engage in converstaion before I would say I disliked you. I could think "oh dear best make sure I've my handbag close to me" then you come over with an item I've dropped out of my shopping cart and give me it back -instantly -with no regard to your outward appearance, I would think what a nice guy you were.
I have only ever taken an instant dislike to a guy who works at my local supermarket. I avoid him at all costs as for some odd reason he creeps me out totally - poor guy!! The other day he came over and said something to me while I was queueing to pay and i just froze on the spot and awkwardly smiled. How ridiculous though, why on earth when I don't know him.
On here I've never taken an instant dislike to anyone. there are a couple who I've grown to not be very fond of. In real life a lot of my first impressions have been wrong and I'm sure some people don't like me because they don't know me. They are all women too.
i hate my boss - and that not likely to change :(
Not on your nellie, Nailit!.....☺
nailit, I honestly would not judge anybody based on those things!

I did however make that mistake once. long ago I went to work for a taxi company, one of the first drivers I met was an overweight heavily tattooed skinhead, with tats all up his neck and across his knuckles.

Then I heard all the old ladies asking for "Mike" all the time, where is Mike, he usually picks me up, he always helps me take my shopping in etc. well of course, this thug look alike was Mike, he was the one of the gentlest and nicest individuals I have ever come across! How wrong I was to judge, this world could do with a lot more "Mikes" with or without the tattoos.
I instantly like you Nailit from your posts on here...you're truthful and non-judgemental (even in the face of fierce adversity ;) )that is a trait I admire in a person (i'm due you btw...been caught up a bit) so that blows the theory you can't read anyone from a forum out the window, in fact it has been shattered for me as I know a few people and suffice to say that I am a very good judge of character (istics).

In real life I do start from a level playing field but within 5 minutes I just know that person is going to wind me up something awful and i've been right. Some people just aren't on the same page as me , one racist remark, one bigoted remark and their card is marked.I feel insulted they assumed we sang from the same song sheet...that's my bugbear so yes , I can judge pretty quick BUT never from looks ever.
Nailit, I know and have known many ex convicts, my mum was in prison more than once, two of my siblings were born in prison, one in Crumpsall, I can't remember the other prison. I have tattoos, my daughters both have them, my sisters all do too. I love tattoos :)
I would not judge you on any of those things.
Yes
Impossible
Yes
Sometimes
Hi Nailit, I think a person's 'attitude' can put me off but I've learnt to reserve judgement until I get to know them better.

Yes, some, I guess, would have taken a dislike to me too but life's too short.
I missed the bit about someone taking a dislike to me with no apparent reason.

It's happened , usually all it takes is for one person to dislike you then it's a case of give a dog a bad name. It's truly that simple. Life's too short so I don't care. I'm relieved that as time marches on it also comes with the ability to completely shut people out your life without a second thought.

I just have a thing about people who tell the world their troubles in the hope of a sympathetic 'oh dear, never mind, I'm sure that it isn't really your fault' reaction.
Daffy // two of my siblings were born in prison, one in Crumpsall, //

erm I live in Crumpsall and whilst there is a hospital there,
the only prisons are HMP Manchester ( strangeways ) and HMP Forest Bank ( old Agecroft colliery ). yeah and we have lots of tattoed men and women around here and I agree they arent too bad.
I try not to judge too quickly and I'm a reasonable judge of character.... bad people are very obvious to us all, you don;t need to be Einstein to work some folk out.
