the brits might wash up in a questionable way, but have you noticed what continental europeans class as food? everywhere ive been in europe there are things on the menu that i wouldn't feed to an animal, yet i am made to feel like a philistine or a copmplete coward for requesting to eat something other than garden pests or bits of wobbly stuff designed to channel poo. :-D

I agree. But I think, if one can eat a chicken, one can eat a worm. The preference is subjective.

[gosh, I'm beginning to sound like a right ol' crank on here - I beg your patience - I'll be back to normal soon]

Hello Treacle, I think we are on the same wavelength. Perhaps we should talk about it?

hello coggles, i thnk we should too :-D
I don't like the thought of eating wriggy, crawling things, but I can't eat lots of Brit food too - offal, brains, kidneys, gizards, blood. Wish I had some pringles now.
If you saw how the the british sausage is made you would definitley let fling. I don't get the comment about eating chickens though. Although I was in a foreign restraunt once and ordered chicken deluxe and got raw chicken that had been heated up in a microwave. The smell and taste very nearly put me off it for life. How about frankfurters I have heard them described as slaughter house floor sweepings. Lets not forget TRIPE!!!!
bluedolphin: I mean that if you can eat one animal, you can eat another - it's all arbitrary. [and yes, I'd classify worms as animals too]
Absolute rubbish! Some of the best meals I've ever had have been in France and Spain.

very good gef, i wanted someone to say it was rubbish, i think i'd just been subjected to too much pommie bashing and eurosnobbery over last couple of weeks, and insulting the cleanliness of my crockery was final straw, the question was pure retaliation and i wont do it again (all happy now we've won world cup). :-D
