I would not even speak, soon as I hear the rambling I hang up..
I would have strung him on, fictitious amounts, bank accounts, false names and then finished off with 'I'm talking about toy town money' or 'I am sending it to Gadaffi's daughter or Isis.'
I'm with DTC .... I love to string them along (when I'm in the mood). I was once on the phone to someone, claiming to be from my internet service provider, for approx 30 mins :)
For those who have never worked in a call centre, one of the key performance indicators is the average call handling time; the lower the average the more calls you can handle. Operators who fall below the standard are penalised. The best way to annoy an operator therefore is to keep him/her hanging on the phone;they can see their bonus floating slowly out of the window.
I'd say :
"Does your mother know what a shameful way you earn your living ?"
I'm with DTCwordfan and Gizmonster. If you think it is a scam, string them along
for as long as you can to perhaps save someone more gullible being scammed. I am
amazed at how much rubbish they often accept before giving up.
I just keep my answering machine on at all times and screen all calls. They hang up immediately when they hear a machine. NEVER get involved in chatting to them.
I have told them I'm an undischarged bankrupt and then start crying. But only when I am really bored which is almost never.
I just put the phone on one side and let them talk to themselves.
purporting to be from your bank and then asking you how much money you have in your account doesn't sound like a well thought out scam to me
