I've cleared the history and run a scan which is clear, but to no effect. I still can't access the Internet. (My emails are working fine). Any ideas please?

Either a problem with the browser or the connection. Do you have another browser you can use temporarily? If not then the only way to install one would be to open Internet Explorer, so you'd have to try testing the connection in various ways.

Best starting point is first to restart your computer, and if that doesn't work, find your router and turn that off and back on again. If that still doesn't work then I'm out of ideas for now and more information might be needed (eg what version of Internet Explorer, what computer you have, who provides your internet and so on).

Done all that Jim. The Internet connection is working for everything else, ie x box, mobile phones, my iPad, just not for my desktop. I think it's ie7.

Cancel that. It's just come back. Been off all morning. A mystery! Thanks for trying to help, Jim.
You're welcome -- something of a relief that it fixed itself, as finding support for IE7 has proved fairly tricky.
Suggestion - download and install Firefox. That way, you'll have another option if it ever happens again.
IE7 is no longer supported and any problems will be difficult to solve.

Why not get a new internet browser? Try Firefox it's oodles better

Naomi, FYI, if you have an external HD, next time this happens - and it will - simply go into your external drive then search in there for IE application, then simply run that version, it'll automatically update as you use
Norton issued an update that is causing IE11 to crash, other IE versions may also be affected. If you need help watch the Youtube video. In general this should be easy to resolve

Thanks all. I'm not terribly technically minded, so I'm very grateful for any help offered.
