Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

The clue to start with is 16 across, not necessarily to solve it completely but it is possible to establish beyond doubt the value of one letter. You then look for 2 clues which check each other and involve this letter along with one other, and see what possibilities might work.

Many thanks for starting hints thread. Before go on 16ac is "FUVV,FFFFFFF,FFFFFFF" with 3 cells between 16cell and end of row. So do the commas in the clue separate the 3 cells? Meaning cell 1 = the value of FUVV*FUVV, surely this would make the last 2cells the value of FFFFFFF^2 which isn't possible to fit with value

The entry is the sum of the squares of each number in the clue. So the entry for 16a is (FUVV)^2 + (FFFFFFF)^2 + (FFFFFFF)^2.
