You don't have to convince millions of people that your TV idea is funny, you only have to convince the Commissioning Editor for a major TV channel,. and this, Mr Lucas appears to have done.
This is based largely on Little Britain which acted like a firework - burned bright, but briefly, and does not trouble an re--run slots as far as I am aware.
I haven't seen the new show, but based on the aforesaid Little Brittain, and the 'comedy' about an airline, I don't expect it to get a second series. There is really only room for one bafflingly unfunny series to air at a time, and Reeves and Mortimer seem to have that slot.
