Why do bad things happen to good people?

It is tough enough for Excelsior being out of a job at the moment, and having to suffer reject after reject.
But now he is going to have to fork out money to have his car sorted.
It was in a car park in town while he was job hunting, and it looks like some *** parked next to him has gouged a big hole in his paintwork on the passenger side door - he's got the 'chips away' guy coming to have a look.
He had spent a sizeable portion of his redundancy money on that car, and is very protective of it, he is understandably peeved.
It frustrates me to see him so dejected

Who determines who's a bad person as opposed to a good person? I can't and don't.
I think when you strip the comment bare you might want to wonder why someone who hasn't smoked all their life has developed tongue cancer?
Or why someones 17yr old had an asthma attack 4months ago and has been unresponsive since then, she has also 'died' 4 times and been brought back. She remains absolutely unresponsive.
Now that puts bad things happening to good people into perspective.
So in my opinion what happened to Excelsior is what happens on a daily basis and we deal with it..People get paid off sadly and have to suck it up.
All the things i've mentioned are what we can all anticipate in life but I know what i'd rather anticipate...
I'm only glad that's all Excelsior has to be dejected about, he's one very lucky man :)

Ahhhh...but do you know that that is all Excel has to be dejected about,KM?
Maybe what you think he should just suck up is the final straw. Final straws are often something tiny that we'd shrug off under normal circumstances.... but on occasion they can bring us to our knees.....
I think you might be surprised at what's under the surface of the lives many abers present on here, don't you.....x

There is no supernatural force determining our luck in the world good or bad. There is often little or nothing we can do to alter circumstances or events that the world throws at us. I don't believe in karma or destiny but I do think a positive outlook can help you achieve more. I hope things pick up, nothing worse than seeing a loved on dejected, you wish you could take some of the burden off them somehow. I know how horrible it is to have a nice car, your pride and joy, and due to another persons total disregard for your property YOU have to get the thing fixed and the charm/novelty of the car is often lost somehow. Support your man and hope things sort themselves out x

Oh Napoleon thought it was and used to ask of someone he was thinking of promoting, 'Is he lucky?' A lot of his marshals were, by the way
Presumably colleagues didnt in 1800 or whenever say " O well done that man!" but rather 'that was lucky...'
