Small Motorcycle V Scooter [As A General Runabout]
What are the pro's and con's of the above? I presume the motorcycle is the better for it's dynamic qualities [i.e. bigger wheels, etc] but then a scooter looks easier for cleaning, less maintenance without exposed drive chain. What would you go for? Something around 125cc should be adequate as it's only for local use or shorter out of town trips.

Scooters are cleaner to ride because they are all closed in. You can also step-through which can be a bonus sometimes. You will have to watch out for the numerous pot holes that there are these days, especially with the smaller wheels.
What about a scooter with big wheels such as this ?:

and only £2000 new
I quite fancy one of these:

I have heard that they handle a dream, especially with the ABS
But £7000+ is a bit pricey!

Get yourself a Lambretta, MantaRay. You know it makes sense.

I had a Lambretta, then a Triumph Tiger Cub,which I preferred but to be honest I couldn't wait to get on four wheels.Incidentally my nephew's hobby is buying old scooters and renovating them he's got a bit of a rep in the scooter world and often does them on a commission basis. He reckons there is enough demand that he's always got one on the go.

I have ridden motorcycles from 16 years to 62yrs.Started with BSA Bantam D1 and finished on BMW K100 and Indian Enfield Bullet 500cc.
I have ridden hired scooters abroad but never owned one.I did own one of the above during a period of penury. It was nippy, economical and shaft driven. Not sure if these are made anymore but plenty going second hand plus spares are available. Much prefer motorcycles to a scooter. Far better handling in my opinion and more stable in the wet.
