The brother in law is here from overseas and has decided he wants to drive to a village and have a nice lunch in a country pub.... Now there is a lot of countryside in England, but I certainly do not want to be driving more than an hour with 2 kids in the car too. Friends have said to head to Windsor as there are villages around there and nice pubs... anyone else no somewhere nice to go to?? Many thanks.

I agree about Shere Methyl. That area has lots of nice pubs for food. I have been to quite a few pubs in that area when I have been out with local walking clubs but I can`t remember which ones they were because I tend to just go where the walk organiser has decided we will have lunch.

We tried to book The spotted Cow but it was full... We ended up at the Fifield Inn, and very nice it was too! Thanks for all the suggestions.
