I find this crossword really hard! These seem to be reprints of old independent crosswords you can usually find the answers and explanation on a site called fifteen squared though you do need to search a little.
Only answer I can think of is sobriety

Thanks for that. I have been trying this crossword for a while but do rather struggle with it. If it wasn't for this site I would be submitting on AB a lot. Even with answer and the explanation I am still scratching my head at times.

That's the parsing butmas Mamya says there is no definition. According to the blog the theme was ornithological.
The i does often have a theme but not always easy to spot!
