movie name

trying to find a movie name of an early 80's horror film. when i wrote in the other day the movie name, FROM BEYOND, was sent to me. the name did not come up anywhere as a title that fit. the film i'm looking for, was about a dr. or scientist who tries to awaken a 6th sense, but in doing so starts to see an alternate universe then this "gland" pops out of his forehead. like a third eye! bad but funny film, just always wanted to see it again.
