Is it a truth or a myth that Spartan warriors combed their hair in a certain way before going into battle?

Spartan warriors were very proud of their hair, and wore it long and in a variety of styles, using combs, and ornaments. Before battle they would be keen to 'look their best', as a matter of confidence-boosting, bonding, and an effort to scare their enemies, so plenty of primping and preening would no doubt take place. As to wether a certain style was used, probably something to prevent hair from flopping into eyes at vital moments would be considered.
