By the way Linda, there is nothing whatsoever scaremongering about the future Tory cuts. They have already happened and they will continue to get worse in the future, if we have another 5 years of Tory rule. Only the other day, Police forces all over the country were saying that they faced huge difficulties in providing an adequate service, and would have even more problems in the future, in planned cuts are carried out.
It is issues like this that will influence the way people vote in a few weeks time. Issues are important, not character assassinations.

Mikey, I am well aware that Cameron has done a sililar stunt and I'm not making an excuse for him, I think it's pityful when the leaders start parading their kids. Blair and Brown we're both at it and all the wives jump up to kiss their hubbies at conferences.
As for Balls scaremongering about cuts. I don't think even he believes there will be no Foreign office and other departments. It's downright lies. A lot of cuts have been cutting out waste. I could dig up so many none jobs a and bloated Quangos created underLabour along with none jobs but but I dont think there is room on this forum. You say people will be voting on the 'cuts' issue. I think they will be more concerned about spending money we don't have.

The problem arises when someone who should be slimming down thes organizations decides, either for political or personal, to cut front line staff to make a point. That is where the Tories have failed. They should have used outside companies to make these cuts which should be confined to bloated managemtn.

We just might be able to manage without Libraries, Old Age Pensioners Day Centres, etc, etc, but how many of us would be happy to see our Police so deprived of funds that they can no longer be effective ?

But the Police's ability to fully investigate these awful crimes is being. and will continue to be compromised by lack of funding.
So, on this issue alone, people will have a clear choice about when they step into the ballot box in May. What is very strange though is that Law and Order has traditionally been very much of a Tory iron-clad policy, but they seem to have dropped its priority down a peg or two of late.

YMB...Of course I am not supporting "bloated management" but would you use that phrase to describe your local Police personnel ?
We are also seeing savage cuts to defence spending. I am far from being a hawk when it comes to military issues but we are approaching a time when we may not be able to defend ourselves adequately because we just don't have the personnel to do it.
If we were faced with a emergency like the Falklands again, its now obvious that we couldn't do what we did 30 years ago. With a trigger-happy Putin larking about, is now the time to be cutting defence spending ?

There are some people that believe there should be no cuts in spending whatsoever. How are we supposed to reduce the colossal deficit without cuts? On the one hand they are going on about tory 'savage cuts' then on the other they are having a go about the deficit increasing under the tories. Make you mind up, what do you want?

Every poll shows the Parties are level and some degree of coalition will probably be the result. With a 50/50 liklihood of a Labour led Government, why would they be desperate?

Tell us mikey, if your caring Labour Party get in will they reverses all those cuts that the Tories have made, and if so where are they going to get the money from, even to prevent more cuts, or is it going to be another spend, spend, spend party that we have all become accustomed to?

I seem to remember in other posts you were desperate to find white perpetrators to balance up then fact that many any of the gangster of groomers were of Pakistani origin. They we're to investigated at the time because the powers at be were frightened of being labelled Racist. Can you imaging what would have happened under this mindset if gangs of white men were targeting Asian Girls. These people, along with powerful men like Cyril Smith were untouchable at the time. I'm sure things have changed. As for the bloated NHS, I worked in medicine during New Labour and I saw the changes, and what it did to front line services, marginalising doctors by Target Managers and non medical staff riding roughshod over medical staff.

Linda...Child Sexual Abuse most certainly DID NOT start under Labour ! But perhaps you didn't really mean that and are referring to very recent events. The Press over the last few months have been awash with court cases concerning paedophile activity, some but not all committed by non-white men.
But my point still stands....are the Police going to be able to cope with the extra demands made upon them, while investigating child sexual abuse, historic or current, if their budgets are being constantly reduced ? The future plans of the Labour Party may be up for doubt and debate but the current record under this Tory administration is a matter of fact.
If it is true that the Tories plan ever greater cuts in the future, and they have already said that they are, then will be acceptable to the general public ?
