Anyone want service....

an hour ago, came back from the pub, a young black cocker dog running around in the road, soaking wet....a lovely dog that turns out to be 4, not the 1-2 that I thought it was. Anyway, visited four folk, local farmers or a 'chalet tenant' and not theirs. Back here, keep the dogs separated, and on the first call to the father of a farming family with 3 farms, turns out he belongs to his eldest son - the son has just been around to pick him up, the dog missing 3 hours......

So good favour of the week done and I am soaking for it, a glass of Adam's Ale my reward.....

Any rescue stories of your own?

Well done DTC! A visitor left our front door open and one of my dogs wandered out unnoticed. When we discovered him missing we looked everywhere – under bushes, down big rabbit holes, but all to no avail. Fortunately the person who found him sitting forlornly in the road (he’s blind and rather deaf) took him to a vet some five miles away who identified us by the dog’s microchip. Happily, we soon got him back. The moral of this story – get your pets microchipped!
Well done DT. Years ago I rescued a lovely black Labrador. He had a tag with the owner's tel. number and was six miles from home. They duly collected him but in the interim we discovered he didn't allow anyone to smoke!
Owners can be fined up to £5k for not having their name, address and postcode on a tag attached to their dog. Telephone number is optional.
I am disgusted at the tales on this thread where the poor animals have been at risk of being killed on the road and the owners couldn't care less. Grrrrh!
It always upsets me when on returning a dog, the owner doesn't seem too bothered, makes me wonder what sort of home the poor dog has.

I know, chapta/ladybird, some folk can really be dismissive of the good turns of others, and that doesn't have to be animals - just read Mrs O's thread about her son's actions....
A son to be proud of indeed DT ...
We once found a pet rabbit in our garden, We kept it in a box, fed it and put word around about the find. About 4 days later a couple came to the door with a child in a pushchair " Have you got our rabbit" they asked " When I gave it to them they just said "we've been looking all over for it" turned and walked off -no thank you or anything -wish I'd made a bleeding pie out of it lol!

I would have sent them a pressie - a truck load of rotting cabbage and lettuce dumped over their garden wall.....
Awww no, glad you didn't Retro !
I couldn't really care less whether I get thanks or not. What I like to see is that they have made attempts to find their animal, that the animal is pleased to see them and that they will make sure it doesn't escape again
