my company is in a position of starting an agency lad because of a back log of work but because of this they are on about splitting me and my partner up to accommodate this agency worker.
they are saying they are pairing me up with a colleague that i do not get on with so can i refuse this?

Wouldn't the sensible thing to do be to have a quiet word with the personnel dept. explaining your concerns and see if another solution can be found?

Yes you can refuse but they could dismiss you, it is not up to you who you work with,

dismiss me in what way?
That is what good manners are for.....working with people you don't like!

Unless it says in your contract that you can pick and choose who you work with, then No!

thanx for your help lads, time to move on then.
They do say that the truth hurts - if you don't like sensible correct answers.......
Captain2, where has foreverpools suggested that he doesn't like the answers?
Don't mess with the OP. From his avatar it is clear that he comes from where they hung the monkey.
Yes Ratter sorry. After re-reading the OP's last post I think I took 'time to move on then' as a rebuff to the answers given and he would move to another forum.
I now see he means 'time to change jobs.'
I apologise to foreverpools
