Dongle For Occasional Internet Connection
9 Answers
Hi
I wonder if there is anyone who can help, we live abroad and have a house in Kent (Deal if that matters for coverage) which we visit about 6 - 7 times a year for about a week at a time. We have no landline in the house and the only mobile I have is NOT a smart phone and on a payg EE network which I don't want to change.
My Spanish providers roaming charges would make you cry so that's not an option so does anyone know of a reliable phone/ internet company which could provide me with a dongle and payg daily internet without a monthly contract?
I have Googled a bit but am getting bogged down with technology!

I can't remember how much the dongle cost but I don't think it was very much.
I bought it from Currys ( I think ! ) Its very simple to use. But whether Three is the right one for Deal in Kent I am not sure of. Go to their website, put your British Postcode in and see what they say. Some ISPs will have better coverage than others and they will all offer a PAYG dongle service.
But you may be able to pick up a neighbours wifi. There are also plenty of places
that offer free wifi these days....McDonalds, Wetherspoon Pubs, etc.
Let us kn ow how you get on...we always appreciate feedback here on AB !

There are a few deals on U switch here - Vodafone looks the cheapest, but you would have to check the coverage...

Perfect replies people, will investigate them all but I like the sound of the O2 and the Three Network things, will have an ask in the area and see which of the two gives the best coverage.
Neighbours signal is so bad I would have to be sitting on her doorstep to access it.
I use free wifi with my Samsung tablet when we are out and about but wanted something at home.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply, I feel a lot more confident about getting something sorted now.

Just one more thing as you seem to have such great info - I am assuming I can buy an unlocked dongle and choose my provider then? I have seen this on ebay it's a make I know as it's what my Spanish phone is.
