I thought that your insurance was supposed to go down upon reaching certain milestones in your life.
Throughout my earlier years of motorcycling, my premium may have remained static, but it never went down. You couldn't get 'no claims bonus' for m/cycle's back then, so my only expectation was a reduction when I reached 25 and 30. Both birthdays came and went, and despite not having made a claim, the premium continued to rise.

Am now in my seventeenth consecutive year of car ownership...
With seventeen years 'no claims bonus' (only 9 count apparently!).
Not a single point on my license.
Car parked in locked garage overnight.
03 plate - 1.7 diesel...... Usain Bolt is faster!
Less than 6000 miles a year.
Book price around £1000.

Despite having reached the latest milestone (50 last year),
I opened a letter from insurers this morning and... you guessed it,
another increase in the premium!
When will it ever go down!?

If I live to reach the next milestone, they'll probably boost it up due to me being too old and classed as dangerous!!!

I agree with Paul, Aviva are surprisingly competitive, particularly if you have a multi car policy.

Also if you have other insurance with them such as house cover, you get further discounts.

I paid £390 for two cars fully comp this year, with courtesy car if car is off the road.

"Calm down Dear!"

don't just switch if they raise the premium, ring them up and threaten to switch and see what they do. Basically, they are highly likely to cave in without a murmur. If they don't then look elsewhere.

Buenchico, sorry for late reply, £468.50. That's with a £250 excess and no breakdown cover.
That sounds a little high to me, MC, but it will obviously depend upon your postcode.

I use Post Office Insurance as they seem to get me the best deal. (The premium I quoted above was the one I simply accepted without trying to beat this year. That's because, for the past two years I've spent ages on price comparison sites, trying to beat what Post Office Insurance have found, only to decide that their offer was the best anyway).
car insurance=legalised robbery
lol, bernie, not just legalised but mandatory.
Not everyone's on the price comparison sites, anyway - I find going direct to the insurers' site is often cheaper. My renewal this year was actually showing as more expensive (with the same company) on the comparison site.
When I drove I paid insurance policies. Never claimed.
Always as an adult paid home insurance policies. Never claimed.
Pay Life Insurance. Will be too dead to claim.
Might get burgled or worse.
Never mind, another of my charitable contributions.
That's it, though, daisy - you hope when you buy it that you'll never need to use it. That's what insurance is for....

I shop around every year, I always seem to get a good deal.

Thank you all for your input. Had another scout around before expiry, but couldn't find anything close to present insurer. At least that headache is over for another year.

Tomorrow she goes in for a service and MOT, more £££'s no doubt!
