How do I determine which fence is my responsability?

If it is a post and rail fence then your fences are the ones that have the posts on your side. Hope thats clear.

In most cases, Diamondson is right, mine is, but there are times when its on the left, check your deeds, it'll be in there.

you will have to check your deed's, i am a fence erector and i have always advised the customer to check with the deed's. the local council's dont care much about this subject!!

and i am sick of downing tool's because of a nieghbour dispute!

Check your deeds. The first house we lived in we owned the fence on the left, in the second house we owned the fence on the right and in this house all boundaries are jointly owned! So there are definately no set rules!
