I have just picked up remote for tv to send a text message and actually pressed the button till I realised what I was doing .

I haven't done that, yet, but more then once I pointed the car key at the front door of the house and wondered why it wasn't opening.

I have done that. Also tried to switch on the TV with my phone.

I went shopping in my husbands car, which has a key that you just point at the car to unlock it. I unlocked the boot, put the shopping in, then returned the trolley to the trolley bay. I went back to the car and the key was no longer working. I tried for about five minutes and was on the point of ringing home to tell him to come and get me when I realised I was pointing it at the wrong car.
