Well I'm pleased that you've sorted it out but I might as well explain the difference between the two types of Youtube link anyway: A 'normal' Youtube link (that you'll find by searching for a video from Youtube's home page) has ' youtube. com' in it. Well I'm pleased that you've sorted it out but I might as well explain the difference between the two types of Youtube link anyway:
A 'normal' Youtube link (that you'll find by searching for a video from Youtube's home page) has 'youtube.com' in it. Using such a link will always start the video from the beginning. However if you click on 'Share' you'll see that the link offered has the 'youtu.be' format and, alongside it, there's an additional option to choose when the video will start from when that link is used. So, for example, you might find a 5 minute long video, that you want to send to a friend, but only the last minute of it is actually interesting. You can then get a 'youtu.be' link that will start the video 4 minutes into it.
However some applications can't work with those 'youtu.be' links, so (when using such applications) it's important to copy the 'normal' URL directly from your browser's address bar, rather than clicking the 'Share' button.
