If you truly want such control, the only way to acquire it is to buy shares and attend meetings.
Exactly the same applies to us, the users, and UK Netguide (Crystal Guides Ltd), the owners of AnswerBank. This isn't a democracy either; it is a - relatively benign - autocracy in which the Editor has been delegated power of control.
The constant harping on about "Why can't we have Chatterbank back?" and "Why has my question been removed?"...simply reveals that the people asking have failed to grasp the absurdly simple point outlined above.
It is also, surely, obvious that we - the other punters on AB - cannot possibly answer these questions, so why do these people keep on presenting them as questions to us?
If you are someone who wants to ask either of these questions, you should look at the bottom of each AnswerBank page. There, you will see a heading: 'Contact us'. Clicking on that allows you to send messages/questions directly to the editorial/technical staff. These are the only people who can answer you.
So, here's my suggestion...
Start using that system and stop boring the (Marks & Spencer) knickers off the rest of us!
undercovers - a good suggestion but I fear it would go unread by those it is aimed at.......
Excellent post, QM.
Clanad - you would indeed think that after having a few posts removed and getting no response to their 'why was it removed?' bleating, people would get the message that they're not going to get an answer, and stop asking. You'd also think that they might put 2 and 2 together and realise that their posts are removed because they are not wanted on the site. But carry on they do....
I also think AB Ed makes a rod for her own back by saying she doesn't want the site turning into a chat room, and then participating in some of these chatty threads. Giving out mixed messages like that does nothing to clarify the situation and gives more 'ammunition' for these people to continue posting.
