Black Box Insurance
I was just wondering if anyone has used a telematics black box on their car for insurance, how did it work out? What do you think of them?

That's my thoughts Cazz, I think this device is intimidating for the driver who, has enough on His / Her mind to start with, with insurance claims the way they are, they people that cause the accidents should pay the cost & not the Accident Free Motorist. I also think a driver that has just passed his / her test should without doubt be limited to the lowest cc of a car.
Is this a bad thing ? Any device to make young drivers think twice about driving like a looney can only be a good thing surely ? My daughter is 17 in August and i'd be more than happy for her to have one. Her boyfriend is 17 and passed his test this week....im going to INSIST he has one especially when carrying my daughter around with him !!!!!
I actually looked at some review sites, initially the idea is a good one in that it fosters sensible driving skills and the chance to reduce insurance as a reward, however when I looked into it I found that most people even when driving in a saintly manner are penalised constantly. My daughters friend has this type of insurance and she gets marked down for everything like cornering, driving on roads or junctions that are considered by the insurance company to be high risk, speeding fines (31 in a 30) the fines can be up to 100 pounds a time, driving at night is bad, short journeys are marked down, even if her friend drives everywhere at 20 and corners painfully slowly she is still penalised. reading the many reviews online it seems that no one can win with the black boxes no matter how well they drive, in the end they pay out more in penalties. so in my opinion I feel the low quotes are a con to sucker in young drivers who are desperate to get on the road.
