There's a nasty rumour in our company that the boss has secretly put 'trackers' onto certain company cars to monitor where people are going during office time.

Where would they be commonly be put, and what do they look like please?

I want to give my motor the once over to see if I'm one of the 'suspects'!!

Trackers can be fitted ANYwhere, and will be in a place that is virtually un-accessible without lifting the car on a ramp on taking parts of it off.

So my advice is, do your work and dont skive off.

Spaced is right - don't forget that they are designed so that thieves don't find them and remove them before taking the car.

If it's any help, they don't wortk if you park the car in a big metal container like you get at docks and big storage yards.

My advice is to drive into one of them and go down the pub

If you find it, wrap it in tinfoil and plase it inside a tin can, and gaffer tape it back to the part of the car it was attached to. This is what the cabbies do up here so they are not sent to jobs they don't want (a satelite tracks the taxis and sends the nearest one to the jobs, which means the drivers can't cherry pick anymore, or so the handlers think)
In all honesty, what you describe above is very unlikely to be anything more than a scare rumour, as the devices are very costly, and so is paying someone to look at the data. I wouldn't worry. If you have something to hide, they will get you due to your own mistakes, not science.

Some bus companies were talking about this a while ago so they can monitor the movements of their vehicles and as an aid to timetabling.
What's the problem unless you've got something to cover up?

You are trying to avoid being caught in an illegal act! Sounds if you spend too much time in the pub meaning you are probably over the limit - but HEY that`s o.k. . Do you do a quick trip over the channel for a bit of smuggling? and maybe a bit of taxi work. Sounds to me as if your boss has good reason to check on you!

what sorts of answers did you expecr luckystrike?? What you are asking will be against your company procedure and you will lose your job. My question WAS helpful, as in I told you about the location and accessability of a tracker. Not my problem that the answer you were expecting "yes its under the front seat" is not what you got. Grow and and do your job like the rest of us honest folk. If you dont like it, give your job to someone that actually wants it.
