What Are The Odds On This...

...I have just sold an item on Ebay having received 37 bids. The winning bid lives in the same town as me and no more than 3/4 of a mile from my own front door. I think I will deliver the item and save him/her the postage.

The cost of the postage was horrific and my concern was the item could be damaged in transit. I was about to give up on the idea when up popped a new listing, from a woman who lived less than a mile away.
I went to see it and the lady very kindly spent two hours showing me how it worked. She took a shine to me and reduced the price and said "I know it is going to a good home."
She was selling some additional software to go with it for £300 which I couldn't afford on top of the cost of the machine.
I keep bumping into her in town and we always stop for a chat. Last month she told me the software was still for sale, and I could have it for half price. I snapped her hand off!
(The sewing machine is the Rolls Royce of sewing machines. It cost her £4,500 new and I bought it for £800. Bargain! She was selling it because she was upgrading and I won't tell you the cost of her new machine as you would faint)

Oz, I am afraid the post of first reserve husband should anything happen to the current Mr O, has gone to The Builder.
You can be second reserve if you like?
I have a poor track record with husbands. The first Mr O died from eating poisonous mushrooms.
The second Mr O died from a blow on the head. (He refused to eat his mushrooms)

You are now officially 2nd reserve!

venator, it does everything bar the housework.
I can programme it, set it going and then walk away and get on with something else.
It has paid for itself with orders I have received since I bought it (for example I am the supplier of hoodies, sweatshirts etc bearing their logo, to one of the local sailing clubs)
