cant use dvd shrink

lately while trying to back up my legally purchased dvd movies,iv found dvdshrink,and dvd decryptor,will not work, especially on more recent movies.

Sony in particular,anyone having the same probs?

It's the latest encryption - dvdshrink can't beat it. Same thing on some Warner bros titles - like Flightplan. What's happening is that they're inserting 'dummy sectors' that your pc can't understand. However, if you can get to the stage where you have the movie open on dvdshrink - you can get to that with some titles, eg narnia - go to reauthor, and choose the start frame (chosen using the 2 arrows icon) as the first frame of the movie, rather than before the studio frame - this will allow you to copy teh movie. You'll need to do this by going in reverse, so be patient, because if you overrun into the dummy sector you'll have to start again. BTW - copying movies - even for backup - is illegal in the eu.

The dvds you are trying to back up will be very cheap to buy in the shops in a few months - you must have noticed the dramatic drop in price on older releases.

I don't wish to preach but you are breaking the law by making illegal copies.

If you really feel you need two copies of your favourite dvds - but two.

You need to downlaod a programe called AnyDVD. This works particularly well with DVD Shrink.
