Hi does anyone know the answer or the way this can be worked out.

In the vegetable market, the prices are set according to the owners whim. An apple costs 15p, lettuce 17p and a pear 9p. According to this system how much will asparagus cost?

19p? ...can work out apple 5 letters +10 ...lettuce 7 letters +10 but cant work out pear
unless pear should be 14p??

Mm yes I hadn't thought of it like that. There were some mistakes in the quiz so it's possible that pear is wrong. Thank you
The question was asked about six hours ago and no one has come up with a mathematical answer. I'm unable to see a mathematical explanation for the prices so perhaps the question is exactly correct. i.e. "according to the owners whim" asparagus could cost anything!
Sorry, this question was right next to one asked yesterday, I didn't realise it was months old.
