I keep getting pop ups telling me to download Macromedia Flash Player. Please tell me what this is and why I need it .... in simple terms please.

Certain types of animation on web pages are made with flash and need the flash player to play. It is quite safe to download it and doesn't take long. Poka!

flash player is particularly useful if u regularly receive e-cards--many contain flash animation and need the flash player to view

Going on from Natashka's question, I kept getting the same pop up...how can I tell if I already have one installed?

If it's installed you won't get the popup.
