Hi ABers,
I have recently got through a bad bout of flu (not been so poorly in years), suffered a bad chest infection and prescribed steroids and antibiotics.
I finished the course last Sunday, but since Tuesday I have suffered from a very sore tongue (not cut it or burnt it on food etc) coupled with really bad heartburn which is making me feel quite off colour again. Could it be the antibiotics after effects ? I was on Doxycycline.

Doxycline........might be.......doubt it.

Steroids ....might be........doubt it.

Sounds to me like a general body debilitation following a debilitating illness.

Take an antacid for the heartburn and monitor the situation.

Thanking you Sqad, just strange that I never ever suffer from heartburn, but it's constant and very uncomfortable.
oral thrush ?
I would get some vitamin C down you and maybe some echinacea too? Can't do any harm. I know that I get ill a lot more often when I don't take my vitamins, cliche though it may be. Steroids do horrid things to me- seem to deplete my immune system more and make me feel generally depressed and awful. Gaviscon may help for the heartburn but if not, try omeprazole, or just be really careful to eat only gluten-free, dairy-free, non processed foods, before 8pm.
