I am thinking of buying an Apple I-pad and wonder if it is simple to transfer photos from camera to said I-pad. Thanks.

You need either the sd card reader adapter or the camera connector.
That kit is for old iPads - it doesn't fit the current models.

Current models don't have an official apple branded camera kit. They expect you either to go via your PC/iMac and use the lightning sync cable (or iCloud) - alternatively you can use a camera with wifi capabilities and connect directly by wifi to the iPad.

There are some third party connectors on sale - they don't always work ...

Why not back up your photos onto a cloud? Then you can access them at will from your iPad. That is what I have just done. It was rather slow but worth it as the other day I was able to show an old friend a picture I took of him 12 years ago before iPads were dreamt of ...
forget Apple....Android far easier and more options
