I saved a lot of files on a floppy disk a few weeks ago. When I saved them, I re-inserted the disk and opened the files just to make sure they were ok, which they were.

Now I've tried to access the floppy and it says it needs formatting. This just can't be so. I've used this disk loads of times and now I can't access this important stuff.

Does anyone know how this could happen? Or, more importantly, how I can access the files on the disk? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

PS. I know. I should use a flash drive. I've got one but didn't put the files on it. Doh!

Are you using the same diskette drive, or a different one.

This can sometimes happen when you use a diskette in a different drive.

BY THE WAY - STOP USING DISKETTES !

It's what happens with floppys; they get corrupted easily.

And if the stuff is so important, you shouldn't just store them on a floppy anyway, especially if you know that you should be using a flash drive.

Nothing you can do really, i'm afraid.
