Alternatively it could be for my old man's birthday, which is today!

Psybbo, you're not wrong. Born in St Mary's Hospital Paddington and lived thereabouts for 5 years.
Thank you Sandy, just reading a post in News got me confused.
Happy Birthday Mr Tester. :-)I've already got my flag up in the driveway in his honour.

Dieseldick seems to have got the wrong end of the stick as far as my politics are concerned.
That's exactly what I thought x
Shakespeare's birthday is unknown. All that is known is that he was christened on the 26th; people have just guessed at how old he'd have been before being christened - it was usually quite quick because the parents didn't want you dropping dead while you were still in original sin.

It wasn't the same as our 26th, either, as England was still on the old Julian calendar.
Apologies for interrupting your thread but I try to avoid the News section.
The Ed honours Paddy's day. So why not St George?
I have decorated my moped too ...
I need a new mop head - thanks for the reminder.
