However, my problem is not him being on radion 2 but what radio 2 has become. I started listening to R2 when I tired of R1's youth facism/obsession- when I decided I wanted old stylee, unfashionable radio, with unfashionable dj's that's I'd grew up with who could play any spectrum of song, whether it was a hit or not. Obviously lots of other people felt the same way, thus sending R2 soaring in the ratings. So what so the bbc managment do? Try and make R2 the new R1 and haul in Johnathan Ross, Chris Evans, Dermot O Leary, Mark Lamarr et al. Now I have jumped to local radio. When will the beeb learn?

I agree with you all. I turn off the radio now when he is on. Radio 2 is generally nice and pleasant to listen to. I find his jokes unfunny, his voice quite annoying and not easy listening but grating. I have tuned off now and so have loads of people I know.
He perhaps has a place because some people out there like him...don't they....? But not prime time radio 2, imho.
