12 Answers
How much did you enjoy the expression on Farage's face when, at the manifesto launch, earlier today, he was asked why the only black face in the manifesto was on the page about cutting foreign aid?

Tired? It's barely made it downstairs for its breakfast.
Solve this riddle for me: why would 2nd/3rd/4th generation descendants of immigrants want to associate themselves with a party which won its wave of popularity on an anti-immigrant stance? Is it that, having secured their slice of the pie, they don't want any additional 'furriners' arriving and out-competing them? (this attitude of self-protection is, after all "common sense", eh?)
One face out of ten would have been fine. But, of all pages, why the foreign aid one?
A manifesto is a *sales pamphlet*. You don't want to go scaring off your target audience, after all.

Sorry, I'm not an immigrant so don't feel qualified to answer.
You could try asking a progressive liberal, and god knows there's plenty of them to choose from hereabouts. They seem to know everything about everything.
Failing that, you could try contacting them yourself;

Hope that helps.

Perhaps those 2nd/3rd/4th generation immigrants have established themselves as a useful asset to the UK with there hard work and willingness to integrate.
Perhaps they do not want to be tarred with the same brush as all the more recent Eastern European sponging ,criminal fraternity who are flooding our country.Even immigrants who have lived and worked here for many years of whatever colour are allowed to say enough is enough aren't they? That is democracy as far as I am aware.

Well, there is the delicious irony in the situation, isn't it? They would not be in the position to complain about an influx of Eastern Europeans if their ancestor had not come here.
I realise that you narrowed your focus to only the "sponging, criminal" ones (criminality per 100k stats would be handy, to make that stand up) but, indulge me, why should one standard apply to their ancestor but another standard be applied to latterday arrivals?
Do they not have family members overseas who might fail to get in under UKIP's proposed entry points scheme?

This thread really isn't about immigration, it is about the people who are already here and curiosity about why UKIP chose not to represent some minorities in their manifesto.
I have yet to inspect the thing for myself, so I am unaware what ethnicity they chose to depict on their foreign aid page. Might the often-mentioned space program of a certain sub-continent have influenced their choice?
Also, since a promisingly ethnically diverse group turned up to the launch, I think it was remiss of the onlooking news crews not to interview them for their reactions, after they'd had a chance to read the manifesto for themselves. In the clip I saw, their immediate reaction appeared to be one of bemusement and the booing seemed to be coming from the white sections of the audience. I couldn't help thinking that they were only there because they'd been offered fifty quid each.
