Dsm? Dms?

Just had a phone call from a cousin of mine to say our cousin in New Zealand had phoned her to say he has either DSM or DMS, she can't remember which one he said! When I asked her what it was, all she could say was it's to do with the immune system but she thinks he may not have long to live. I've Googled both these but can't find out what it is. Could you help me with this please? The only thing I know about the cousin in NZ is that he has Diabetes but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Many thanks. x

Disseminated multiple sclerosis also called disseminated sclerosis. Although I was a nursing auxiliary and therefore not qualified I do have vague recollections of nursing a lady suffering with the above many years ago.

Thanks for that info Grandma_Yiddo. have just looked that up and it said that Multiple Sclerosis is the most common autoimmune disorder so perhaps it was DMS.Still have to check with my cousin to see if it could be this. x
