I never have and mine has been ok.
Mines moved about a few times and I've just plugged it straight back in.
I think that is more for appliances that have been jiggled around on a moving lorry. A gentle drag into another room should hardly bother it.
Absolutely yes. Any time ur fridge ir fridge/freezer is moved it must be left off for at least 8 hours. This allows all the "gases" to settle down. Failure to do this can damage the workings.
Well if you don't let it settle and it dies on you, its going to be an expensive mistake.
Funnily enough I tend to agree with all above. You should leave it to settle, it would be difficult to claim it wasn't your fault if you don't, but I would suspect if you didn't, nothing much untoward would actually occur.

I think we shall err on the side of caution and leave it for a couple of hours as obviously the freezer cots would not defrost in that time.
If the unit is being moved a short distance and is kept more-or-less upright, you can plug it in straight away.
The "let it settle" advice is for when the unit has been transported distances involving being tipped in different directions.
