I Suppose I Should Laugh Really!!

Being severely dyslexic, I subscribe to various forums on FaceBook along with other places where we discuss the pro's and con's and coping issues, techniques etc.

The problem is reading this stuff! Talk about the blind leading the blind, I often sit here laughing at myself trying to understand what the hell people are trying to say. When things are written well, it makes reading it a little easier, however, a dyslexic trying to read what another dyslexic has badly written is a bloody nightmare! For some reason, many dyslexics either cannot or will not not use spell checkers, I don't know why that is!

Anyway, just sharing a humorous moment of mine :-)

Your experiences sound like mine ratter, I read everything several times, it takes me forever to complete a book, I cannot think quickly either, I have a delay, I really struggle with numbers, it's like my brain has a meltdown!
I too use browser spell checkers frequently. Usually it seems to default back to American English so I just let the spell checker change the word then change the 'z's' for 's's'.
It's fascinating to the person it concerns Ratter, I had a certain amount of problems with some ignorant people I used to work with within the NHS, but the same clever people made a lot of errors administrating medication, that's how clever they thought they were.

Cazzz, I have the same problems with numbers as well (dyscalculia) often associated with dyslexia, have you ever been checked for dyslexia? it may explain a lot of things.
If the truth is known Ratter, there are many on here as you can see that have Issues, at least you have the b a ll's to admit it, good on you.
Yes, A few years back, I was told by a therapist that I was most probably dyslexic, she seemed fairly certain, to be fair I have always struggled, like you I have a short attention span, I struggle with reading and putting my thoughts into words in an eloquent manner, I End up coming across a bit bullish.
It seems I'm not on my own Cazz? & I though I was.

This is not a real test as such but it will give you a good idea as to whether you may be dyslexic.

Ratter, you don't do so badly. I'd never have guessed - seriously. x
Speaking generally, I think that whatever difficulties we have (and goodness knows that many of us do) to approach it openly and with humour helps get you through, and even those who don't understand then feel able to ask you more about it.

It is how I cope - in a totally different scenario to yours.
Hi Ratter,
I like to learn something every day, and you have certainly done that for me today. I thought dislexia was just "wordblindness"- getting the letters mixed up- the cat tas on the mat, so to speak. It is obviously far more than that, and much credit to you for your efforts to overcome this- and many thanks to you for taking the time and effort to post your thoughts etc., on here. I fear I have been less than fair to some people I know, some of them family members. What does humble pie taste like? I feel I have some coming my way!!
Many thanks again RATTER, and good luck to you.
