at least he had the humility to apologise svejk - some others making comments like that would have robustly defended them, implying that the papal traditions were themselves racist, black smoke representing indecision, and all that.

When the expenses scandal broke, the highest claim by any MP in the country (£175,000) went to one,,,,,,David Lammy. This despite representing a constituency so close he couldn't indulge in house-flipping, mortgage fraud and all the other cons associated with second homes.

He isn't a contender for the Labour leadership, although apparently he said in an interview that he would consider it. He would have about as much chance of becoming Labour Leader as I would ...
