I note that Dave is keeping IBS as Work and Pensions Secretary, leading of course to much more peasant bashing. Stand by for deeper cuts in welfare & increases in food banks. I know that savings have to be made in welfare payouts but I do wish it could be done on a more gentle scale than Tory methods.

IDS was crap as a Tory Leader but he has shown his worth as a hatchet man.
I fear for those poor souls in dire straits.
You're right Ron. Savings do have to be made in welfare pay-outs. The current situation is unsustainable - for any government.
yes whirly, Mark Knopfler must be worried.

I fear for the country now that prince John ( Dave ) has taken command & the Sheriff of Nottingham ( IBS) is once again robbing the poor to sustain the rich barons. Where oh where is Robin Earl of Loxley who appears on the scene to help the peasantry ?
What a load of rubbish!
"is once again robbing the poor to sustain "

whereas the loony labour party rob everybody to sustain themselves....

theres some seriously deluded people on this board and the politics of envy is alive and welll...i do not worlk to help others, except those I want to help ie my family
"I fear for those poor souls in dire straits."

Yes, it must be difficult to get by on the limit of £26k tax free (equivalent of about £34k for someone at work and about five times the basic State pension).
Not all recipients of benefit get that 25K. I think a single man would get about £70 a week to live on. That wouldn't go far.
I also fear for a lot of the people relying on welfare benefits, if the evil conservatives make any more cuts some of them might actually need to look for a job, poor souls.
Quite so, Sandy.

So he'd be better off doing one of the jobs we have to import hundreds of thousands of migrants to do. Even if, as we are told, these jobs pay less than the minimum wage, forty hours at £5 an hour equals £200.
>>> is once again robbing the poor to sustain the rich barons.

It is exactly those sort of pathetic statements that got Labour thrashed in the election.

Not everyone who supports or votes for the Tories are "rich barons".

Most of them are hard working people who pay their taxes and are fed up with seeing their money given away to people who don't WANT to work or are better off on benefits.

One of my female relatives has a husband on low pay but they get child benefit, working tax credits and so on. She was offered a job recently but said it was not worth her taking it as they would lose some of their benefits.
