Register Of Births, Deaths And Marriages

A few months ago - maybe a year or so, someone here posted the web address for a site which had facsimiles of births, deaths and marriage certificates. I would like to look at it again, but can't find it. Does anyone know what I mean, and do they have the web address? I have a feeling it was posted by Buenchico, but am not sure.

If it was my post then it didn't show the actual certificates. (Indeed, I know of no such site and I doubt that one could exist because you need to pay to get hold of a copy of any such certificate). However there's a website which transcribes all of the registers, so that you can locate the basic information and then (if you so wish) use that information to order an actual certificate.

^^^PS: The search facility on that free website can be rather confusing. In particular, in the 'Date range' field, note that 'Mar' actually means the quarter-year ending in March (i.e. Jan, Feb & Mar), 'Jun' means the quarter including April, May & June, etc.

The people who run Free BMD have also started transcribing parish registers on FreeReg. As it’s a site that is a work in progress it can be a bit hit and miss for information just keep checking.
