I confess I've not noticed it. Could anyone give a recent example?

sandy...you haven't noticed it, because it doesn't exist.

If the BBC don't have their collective lips firmly attached the back end of the Tory Party, making a loud sucking sound, they are accused of being left-wing. Even supposing its true, it doesn't seem to have prevented the Tories from winning last week has it ?

Anybody who heard Naughtie interview Harriet Harman this week will know that the Today Program, at least, gives all politicians a hard time,no matter what hue.
Biased BBC?

Did anyone see Paxman tearing Ed Miliband a new one just before the election?

I missed it myself, but saw a clip on Charlie Brooker's Election Wipe.

It was pretty horrific.

I even found myself sympathising with Miliband for a moment or two.

This is why I think that some people genuinely believe that the BBC has a left wing bias - it's because the BBC has an extremely 'middle of the road' editorial policy which goes across the whole enterprise.

If you listen to Radio Four for any length of time, you will get the impression that all the presenters and contributors are (for want of a better term) are liberal, with a small 'L'.

This isn't evidence of left wing bias.

It's evidence of a centralist policy.

And it works...because survey after survey after survey reveals that the BBC is one of the things that people in this country are most proud of.

I know some right wingers would be happier if BBC would be a little bit more sexist, and a little bit more homophobic, or at the very least - cast black people only as muggers, murderers and rapists in their dramas...but that's not how the majority of viewers feel.
By the way - for clear understanding of how well the BBC tends to walk the tightrope, have a look at the breakdown of the 766 complaints it got over its handling of Baroness Thatcher's death:

You see?
See what?
I believe it's always been the case that right wingers see left wing bias in the BBC and left wingers see right wing bias.

All I'd say is, if they are biased towards Labour, it hasn't done them much good.
