Euro Lock On Wooden Door Problem

Changing door handles and covers for pensioner which turns out not so simple.

He has a wooden external door. Has a euro lock and the mechanism built in the length of the door. Unfortunately it's 26 years old.
Took off the handles to go get and fit new ones. Was told in Door Store that they are Italian by Villievilla and would need to contact them and get sent to you.
He does not want the same as they are too fancy. Went to Homebase and they had ideal plain ones but for pvc door. Can't see how to fit covers as the door is wooden and I think they are made with a screw hole to connect both sides. Is it possible to get for wooden doors or is there some way the upvc ones can be adapted?

There are these but they're not cheap. There may be others.

Sorry, these are for UPVC doors. I didn't look too closely. Could the screw be drilled in the handle without the hole?
If the spindle and the cylinder are the same dimension apart as the handles Dodger has shown. Then it should be a fairly simple fix by offering up the cover and marking the screw holes and scribing them round the door using a square. Then drilling from both sides to keep the screw holes accurate.
Going from experience I always take the cover with me when buying a new set of door levers ... there are plenty variations in size.
Screwfix are always a good bet.

There are others and they accept returns.
