If he doesn't comply with an Australian court order and get them out of the country - BBC News @1

BF Deal, so what? this is not news and a prime example of the BBC dumbing down its 1 o'clock programme. No wonder they are under the Government gun as to their 5 yearly review.

Like it or not, he's a famous person....and this is news. What's the problem?
Question Author
Come off it, it isn't news and he has 2 days to comply with the order so it will probably be even more of a hot air irrelevant issue, a complete waste of space when there are far more important items to discuss both in the UK and Internationally. e.g 72 killed in a Manila slipper factory fire or Mark Carney wanting the referendum sooner than later.

Question Author
didn't see that one, Baldric, despite a quick top page search of News and CB.
Ta

Just arrogant behaviour on his part, putting his Pets lives at risk
It said on the news that as he flew into Australia in a private jet he avoided customs, how so?
Question Author
They don't necessarily check the hold, gavmacp. I've been on private planes internationally and we weren't checked half the time. I would have thought that there would be an obligation on pilots to make a declaration though to the fact that there were animals aboard.
DTC,
I am gobsmacked that he wasn't checked!
Though I like your style!
Question Author
You could argue that in this day of international terrorism, all planes would be checked, however, remember those stories of commercial planes not being searched, so I am not that surprise, an attitude of 'the plane is out of the States and it's carrying no less than Mr. Depp, so it's low risk and not worth the resource spent.'

And if there is a story about his dogs, this hole in security is it.
The Dingo's would be happy to look after them :-)

Trt, would still be breaking the Import Regulations unless they did the Quarantine first!
It's a human interest (dog interest ?) thing about a celeb. One trying to ignore the rules. They do report the non-serious stuff too. Harsh on the dogs though.
The news is made up of all types of different things, doesn't always have to be deadly serious does it ??
It isn't news?

Isn't this the news section?
There are a number of people here who take every opportunity to criticise the BBC for any number of reasons...and this is one of them.
I'm rather fond of the Beeb and don't search around for reasons to do it down.
He knew the rules, he disobeyed them, he has been told to sort it out a.s.a.p.--- or else. That's it, no news item no discussion needed. I've noticed far too many 'pop' music/culture items on R4 recently. Whole programmes about a tune I've never heard and its 'iconic' writer/performer. That sort of thing is for BBC2 or 3 if it's that good. The other day there were about 20 mins. devoted daily to a poor bloke who had been abused- a 'special report'. Yes it needed reporting, but the detail needed its own programme, not to be part of the news. We turned off in the end.
